As a Pre-K Assistant Teacher, you will assist the NC Pre-K Lead Teacher in overseeing classroom activities, adhering to standards set by the NC Division of Child Development and Early Education, and aligning with the current NC Pre-K Curriculum objectives. This supportive role involves contributing to a nurturing and positive atmosphere for children and their families, fostering strong relationships, and assisting with the planning and implementation of learning experiences that promote physical health, social-emotional growth, cognitive abilities, and creative expression. You will also observe and assess children's development to customize the curriculum, guiding young learners towards achieving their School Readiness Goals.

Requirements

  • Are at least 18 years old with the necessary credentials, including passing a background check
  • Holding a high school diploma or GED
  • Possessing or actively working towards an Associate Degree in birth-through-kindergarten, child development, early childhood education, or a related field, or holding a CDA credential
  • Have genuine empathy and understanding of children's needs and development
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exhibit flexibility and adaptability to meet community needs and respond to changing circumstances
  • Capable of meeting the physical demands of working with children

Responsibilities

  • Assist the NC Pre-K Lead Teacher in overseeing classroom activities
  • Adhere to standards set by the NC Division of Child Development and Early Education
  • Align with the objectives of the current NC Pre-K Curriculum
  • Contribute to creating a nurturing and positive atmosphere for children and their families
  • Help to forge strong, supportive relationships
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of learning experiences that promote various developmental domains, such as physical health, social-emotional growth, cognitive abilities, and creative expression
  • Observe and assess the children's development
  • Aid in the customization of the curriculum to meet the unique needs of each child
  • Guide young learners towards achieving their School Readiness Goals
