The Marketing and Customer Service Representative position will be filled at the II, III, or Senior level based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. This position is a single point of customer contact for nominations, contracts, confirmations, billing, scheduling, and capacity requirements. Under limited supervision, ensures customer activity complies with agreements by monitoring nominations and gas flow activity and communicating proactively with customers to resolve any relevant issues. This is a multi-level posting. Industry experience, accounting and information technology related experience preferred. A bachelor's degree in a business-related field or equivalent work experience. Typically, six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree. Intermediate computer skills and knowledge necessary to operate Microsoft Excel/Word/Outlook and the aptitude to learn and become proficient in using Kern River's proprietary gas scheduling and accounting system. Ability to read and interpret transportation agreements and Kern River's FERC gas tariff and apply them to business practices. Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills in order to develop positive working relationships with customers and other company personnel. Excellent oral and written communication skills and analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficient in prioritizing and handling multiple issues and projects concurrently with rigid time constraints. Extended day, and weekend and holiday work is required on a rotating basis with other team members to cover year-round scheduling. Work outside standard work hours as required with ability to travel to local and long-distance customer meetings (generally requires a valid driver's license). This is a multi-level posting. Routinely communicates with customers, point operators and internal departments by providing and receiving market, supply, and capacity release information to schedule gas transportation. Works with regulatory, rates and legal services departments to facilitate interpretation of contracts and amendments. Produces electronic postings (tariff, index of customers, new meters, etc.) on the electronic bulletin board. Makes decisions regarding interruption of allocation of service, when necessary, based on contractual obligations, priority of service and limitations of interconnecting pipelines. Monitors transportation pricing and terms for transportation contracts. Performs imbalance calculations and provides allocation and billing information to customers. Prepares accurate and timely billing information. Acts as liaison between customers and Kern River for providing responsive, high-quality service on nominations, contracts, and billing-related issues. Provides customized service based on individual customer needs and approaches to customer business issues. Resolves customer service problems or disputes regarding transportation activities (imbalances, billing, discount terms, nominations). Provides outstanding customer service to each customer concerning all aspects of their business. Supports both scheduling and information technology groups by proposing modifications and testing changes to proprietary software programs. Maintains knowledge of gas industry trends, changes in governmental regulations, and the status of gas supply, transportation and market trends through interaction with customers, state and local agencies, commissions, and departments within Kern River. Develops action plans to respond to all North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB) issues and recommends steps necessary to ensure compliance. Assists in preparing responses to Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) data requests and meets regulatory reporting deadlines and requirements. Provides required support for development and testing of the Rapids system functionality, training and manuals, departmental guidelines and operational procedures, performance measures and benchmarking of our customer service to other industry-related companies, maintenance of the contract library, and coordination of shipper/customer meetings, trade shows, customer surveys, customer profiles and market intelligence.
