Job Summary: Provide specialty medical services focusing on natural fertility care and restorative reproductive health. Part-time, with potential for expansion of hours in the future. Requirements

  • Licensure to practice as a Certified Nurse Midwife in the State of Utah; and nationally certified as a Nurse Midwife as required by state law is required. Licensure is obtained by completing a Master's degree in Nursing and a National Certification, which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.
  • Or, Current licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant from the State of Utah; to obtain licensure requires graduation from an ARC -PA approved/accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Or, Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah. Nationally certified as a Nurse Practitioner as required under State Law. Licensure is obtained by completing a Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing and a National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.
  • Willingness to obtain licensure in neighboring states for telehealth purposes, as available and patient load may require.
  • Willingness to complete specialized continuing medical education rapidly as required for this position.
  • UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Utah State prescriptive privileges preferred.
  • Prior clinical experience with fertility awareness monitoring strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Takes, records, and updates complex medical histories, including medical, obstetrical, family, socio-economic, and dietary history, in order to monitor the progress of patient's health and fertility status.
  • Performs physical examinations (female and male).
  • Orders laboratory tests, x-rays, special imaging studies and other diagnostic procedures.
  • Performs female pelvic and early pregnancy ultrasound examinations and interprets ultrasound findings (training will be provided as needed).
  • Monitors and evaluates patient-reported fertility awareness markers for ovulation, the fertile window, and reproductive function.
  • Develops, coordinates, updates, and monitors fertility and reproductive health treatment plans for patients.
  • Prescribes medical treatments and lifestyle changes to support healthy reproductive function and natural conception.
  • Provides ongoing patient education.
  • Counsels patients, families and significant others about health and fertility, and promotes health maintenance.
  • Assists in the collection of data for clinical quality improvement and related research projects.
  • Participates in continuing medical education to include specialty and sub-specialty meetings, journal clubs, and conferences, and active reading of relevant medical literature.
  • Checks and responds to patient messages several times per week, including days not in clinic, and weekend days.
  • Works effectively in integrated practice with other team members (physician and APC ).
  • Orders consultations and interacts with members of other specialty teams.
  • Interacts with other clinicians for appropriate referral relationships (receiving and giving referrals).
  • Other activities as needed to promote and strengthen the clinical practice and associated research.
