About The Position

The American Liver Foundation (ALF) is the nation’s leading non-profit organization dedicated to liver health and disease prevention. ALF promotes education, advocacy, support services, and research for the prevention, treatment, and cure of liver disease. Primary Function / Purpose The National Senior Director, Community Health and Education provides strategic leadership for ALF’s national community health, education, outreach, and professional education initiatives. This role guides the development, expansion, implementation, and evaluation of programs that serve patients, families, caregivers, the public, and healthcare and social service professionals. The position leads ALF’s signature community health and screening initiatives, expands national partnerships, ensures programming is accessible and inclusive, and collaborates closely with development, events, public affairs, and other national teams to advance ALF’s mission and sustainability. This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • At least 5 years of experience is a similar position in an organization of comparable size.
  • Ability to work in collaboration with multiple departments to achieve organizational objectives and success - a team player.
  • Ability to think strategically, analytically with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail and quality of work product.
  • Exceptional time management skills,
  • Strong management/supervision skills and ability to set and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred in Public Health, Health Promotion and Education, Nonprofit Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior member of ALF’s National Leadership Team representing ALF’s mission and values to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide national leadership for community health, education, outreach, patient support, and professional education initiatives.
  • Lead the development, implementation, expansion, and evaluation of ALF’s national programs and professional education initiatives.
  • Direct and expand ALF’s signature community screening and awareness initiatives, including national clinic recruitment, screening operations, and connection-to-care efforts.
  • Oversee national community outreach efforts and the creation of engaging, culturally responsive educational materials in collaboration with communications and public affairs.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with healthcare systems, primary care providers, allied health professionals, community health centers, patient organizations, and public agencies at the local, state, and national levels.
  • Collaborate closely with the Development team to identify potential fundraising opportunities and support program-related funding strategies.
  • Develop and manage national program budgets and ensure effective stewardship of program resources.
  • Research, implement, and evaluate new technologies and innovative approaches to enhance program delivery and impact.
  • Prepare periodic progress and impact reports and present updates to leadership and stakeholders asrequested.
  • Attend ALF meetings, trainings, programs, and events as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational goals.
  • Provide direct supervision and leadership for national Program, Community Health, Education, Outreach, and Screening initiative staff.
