About The Position

KBR is seeking a Cyber Engineering Intern to support the development of advanced security solutions leveraging artificial intelligence. This role focuses on creating intelligent systems for protocol emulation, secure architectures, and AI-driven cyber capabilities. You will work on containerized environments, automated CI/CD pipelines, and AI integration for mission-critical applications, gaining hands-on experience with technologies that directly enhance operational resilience in contested environments.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and Python for low-level and high-level development.
  • Knowledge of network protocols and security concepts.
  • Familiarity with machine learning models, natural language processing, or AI frameworks.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of digital signal processing concepts.
  • Exposure to AI libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or LangChain.
  • Experience with modular architectures and plugin-based systems.
  • Basic knowledge of prompt engineering for LLMs.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker or Kubernetes for container orchestration.
  • Proficiency with Git, GitLab, or similar version control tools.
  • Experience using APIs to interface with common AI models (e.g., OpenAI, REST or similar).
  • Familiarity with secure AI deployment.
  • Exposure to protocol reverse engineering tools (e.g., Wireshark, Scapy).

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement AI-driven applications for emulation of communications protocols used in cyber operations.
  • Develop an extensible emulation framework for secure and modular deployments.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines optimized for secure delivery of AI-enabled cyber tools.
  • Containerize applications using Docker for isolated execution and reproducibility in adversarial simulation environments.
