About The Position

The Spirit of the Position:  The (National) Safety Administrator position is an office position that oversees the Safety programs related to the transportation safety management process and provides overall support and guidance to assigned operational areas. This role coordinates and reports to the Director of Transportation Safety. Salary Range: $66,000 - $73,000  As a company devoted to promoting and an employee-focused servant leadership culture, The Safety Administrator plays a critical role in supporting the Transportation Safety team by monitoring in-cab driver alerts, analyzing safety trends, and producing consistent, high-quality reports. This position helps identify and communicate unsafe driving behaviors, accident trends, and compliance gaps, ensuring they are tracked to resolution. The Administrator works closely with the Senior Director of Safety, the Transportation Safety team, and field leadership to drive visibility, accountability, and continuous improvement across all transportation operations.

Requirements

  • Associates' or Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years of Transportation Industry experience
  • Strong understanding of FMCSA and DOT regulations, including driver qualification, hours of service, and vehicle inspection requirements.
  • Experience using in-cab camera and compliance systems (e.g., Samsara, Samba Safety, FMCSA portal).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
  • Intermediate knowledge of logistics software
  • Working knowledge of performance management/ monitoring systems
  • Analysis and identification of risk trends, problems and solutions.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely using appropriate mediums (for example, face-to-face, e-mail, and presentations, virtual collaboration tools), listen effectively, demonstrate understanding, and clarify meaning for others.
  • Ability to interact cooperatively and collaboratively with others as a team, including those holding divergent and/or opposing views and goals.
  • Understand and apply meaningful operations and safety performance metrics.
  • Must be willing to travel within the assigned regions, as necessary, with limited travel throughout the country and Canada as needed. Up to 15% of the time in the field.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull at least ten pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review and monitor daily driver safety alerts through in-cab camera and compliance systems (e.g., Samsara, Samba Safety, FMCSA portal).
  • Verify the accuracy of event dismissals and ensure timely assignment of coaching events to local leaders.
  • Compile and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly reports summarizing unsafe behaviors, high-risk markets, and driver trends.
  • Create visual dashboards and summaries for leadership review using Excel, Power BI, or other internal tools.
  • Support proactive communication to field leadership on high-risk behaviors requiring corrective action.
  • Attend post-accident review calls for documentation and claim tracking.
  • Assist with claim review and approval through TPA, ensuring completeness and timeliness.
  • Collect and organize accident data across all markets, maintaining accurate logs of follow-up actions and investigation outcomes.
  • Coordinate with claims, safety, and operations teams to ensure accurate reporting and root cause analysis.
  • Maintain DOT driver qualification (DQ) records, including license renewals, MVRs, medical cards, and training records in partnership with the Safety Department and operations.
  • Track and file regulatory documents, permits, and compliance reports.
  • Support DOT audit preparation and ensure documentation is accurate and up to date.
  • Assist HR with DOT-regulated onboarding documentation and random drug testing assignments.
  • Maintain detailed, organized digital files for safety and compliance records.
  • Communicate regularly with regional and local safety teams to ensure compliance expectations are met.
  • Respond to compliance-related inquiries from local teams and assist with FMCSA documentation submissions.
  • Participate in safety meetings, sharing trends and insights to inform leadership decisions.
