Finance work at Kuehne+Nagel, means more than we imagine. ‎ How you create impact The National Payroll Specialist reports directly to the National Payroll Manager and maintains business continuity in the absence of the National Payroll Manager. The Payroll Specialist will provide input and support on team building, process improvements, system integrations/implementations, and document procedures for internal controls. The position will conduct internal audits periodically of various payroll areas and document recommendations for improvements and guidance. The Payroll Specialist is extremely detail-oriented, possesses strong leadership skills and significant knowledge of payroll administration including state and Federal regulations.

Requirements

  • 5 years of full cycle, multi-state payroll processing experience
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, as well as the ability to multi-task
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to resolve issues independently
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving and root cause analysis skills to resolve problems
  • Strong Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) skills
  • Ability to collaborate and provide information to both internal and external customers
  • Ability to work in team setting and communicate effectively with cross-functional groups
  • Ability to become a subject matter expeert in payroll process, and efficiencies

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of degree
  • Knowledge of UKG Pro payroll processing and payroll concepts preferred
  • PayrollOrg Certification is a plus
  • 2 years supervisory experience preferred
  • Proficiency in employment tax is preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of Payroll concepts and pay based calculations
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Federal, state and local regulations

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and precise processing of weekly and semi-monthly multi-state payrolls
  • Maintain adherence to federal, state, and local payroll laws and tax regulations, reducing risk and ensuring legal integrity
  • Provide direction and support to HR teams and employees to resolve time reporting and pay issues
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure appropriate data workflow
  • Assist with preparing data for internal and external audit requests
  • Calculate and communicate salary overpayments and corrections effectively, resolving issues and updating payroll system as needed
  • Provide responsive support for payroll inquiries fostering trust and satisfaction among employees
  • Assist manager with preparation and facilitation of year-end activities between HRIS, HR, Benefits and Payroll to ensure continued operations when transitioning calendar years
  • Update employee records to provide for garnishments, tax levies, and child support orders, as well as tax adjustments
  • Strong understanding of payroll tax regulations and compliance
  • Maintain data accuracy across platforms ensuring seamless payroll and HR operations
  • Special assignments as needed
