About The Position

The Payroll Design Specialist is responsible for overseeing and enhancing GE Vernova's payroll operations processes through process and product improvements, ensuring an in-depth understanding of systems, processes, and legislative rules. This role involves identifying trends, implementing process improvements, and partnering with the daily operations of the regional payroll product. Ensuring accurate and compliant payroll administration, the specialist will meet service delivery standards and enhance the overall customer experience by working collaboratively across teams to resolve issues and drive operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field, OR High school diploma/GED with at least 2 years of directly relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated success in managing projects and/or implementing process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
  • 5+ years of experience in payroll operations or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and analyze complex data.
  • Proficiency with payroll/HRIS systems and reporting tools
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Self-starter who can manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing across all levels within the organization.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications: Outlook, Excel, Word.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Workday, PeopleSoft, and Jira preferred.
  • Workday and case management experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with Lean or process optimization principles strongly preferred.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining customer and supplier relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to regional payroll projects, ensuring successful testing and implementation.
  • Coordinate activities between teams (Strada, GEV, other teams/vendors) to sign off on requirements.
  • Work closely with the Strada AMS team to coordinate testing, collaborate on test plans, and manage all changes through CAB.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and provide strategic recommendations on issues and processes that require Workday enhancements. Look for ways to optimization and continuous improvement.
  • Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Utilize SME to find best alternatives to meet business requirements, including cost-effectiveness evaluation of all potential solutions along with risk assessment.
  • Manage deduction and earnings code approvals and configuration, additions and changes to ensure proper pay and deduction code configuration and changes.
  • Maintain and update payroll system for equity earnings configuration and ensure ongoing compliance and accuracy
  • Provide requirements for equity-related payroll changes, validate system updates, and conduct user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Support executive compensation analytics, reporting, and special projects as needed.
  • Partner with the Employment Tax team to conduct regular data clean-up and compliance audits for executive equity compensation records.
  • Own pay calendar configuration for NAM payroll on cycle and off cycle.
  • GPIT US decision and plan tester
  • JIRA Management: Ensure changes are vetted for sign off to Strada.
  • Workday Releases planning and testing with Strada WAM - Security approver for GPIT, Client Payroll Partner, HR Accounting Partner, O2 Severance Tool, and Overpayment Tool.
  • Manage security and oversee integrations that are directly related to the tools we own (PeopleSoft Archive, PRDW, GPIT, Mytime+ all other time systems).
  • Support development, modification and troubleshooting of integrations across multiple systems.
  • Drive increased productivity and compliance through process improvements, standardization, and simplification.
  • Develop broad knowledge of processing procedures to ensure successful execution.
  • Utilize LEAN principals to drive operational technology/process improvements.
  • Liaise between HR, People Operations, Finance, and Strada to understand impacts and develop solutions on GEV requirements.
  • Work collaboratively across internal teams and establish strong working relationships with the business and key stakeholders in solving complex issues.
  • Build relationships with internal teams, vendor partners, and customers to understand their needs and how they can be fulfilled.
  • Create and maintain a positive team environment and culture that fosters a collaborative and inspirational workplace.
  • Coordinate and build collaborative partnerships with IT, suppliers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Resolve complex processing issues and escalations for internal and external customers while promoting “Best in Class” customer service.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts to resolve production issues and escalations, partnering with others to quickly identify and implement solutions.
  • Triage – work with ops when issues raised determine if Change or Consult JIRA needed.
  • Lead independent projects and cleanups.
  • Ensure stakeholder and leadership buy-in.
  • Strong decision-making ability and influencing skills required to lead the Change Management process for functional plan changes.
  • Clearly articulate risk analysis, mitigation plans, communication plans with leadership on progress, setbacks, and critical moment/crisis situations.
  • Identify and mitigate risks for deliverables: track risks, escalate issues & coordinate resolution, communicate efficiently and effectively to all stakeholders.
  • Close coordination with (internal and supplier) technical teams to evaluate scope, functionality, and risk.
  • End to end product impact assessments & CR management with vendors.
  • Partner with suppliers and other stakeholders on all phases of payroll-related changes including requirements definition, development and testing.
  • Source, analyze and interpret data to understand trends to support payroll and business needs and influence change.
  • Ensures performance to established standards and metrics are met while actively looking for ways to improve the process.
  • Provide payroll support and services across all products.
  • Possess deep subject matter expertise to deliver accurate, compliant, efficient payroll administration.
