About The Position

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, provides piano accompaniment to instrumental and vocal music students in preparation for lessons, classes, performances and juries. Duties may include meeting one-to-one with students and rehearsing assigned repertoire, both independent and under supervision.

• read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
• Admission or registration as a CSU student.
• Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
• Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)
• International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB. (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate)
• Eligible to work in the United States
• Social Security Card

Nice To Haves

• Ability to play the piano at the advanced level
• accompany soloists, instrumentalists and small ensembles
• sight read musical scores
• assist students in learning vocal music.
• Training in piano and sufficient experience as an accompanist to perform assigned duties.

Responsibilities

• Play the piano at advanced level to accompany, soloists, and small ensembles for rehearsals and concerts.
• Sight-read musical parts during rehearsals.
• Rehearse with vocal students for solos performed in voice classes and recitals
• Depending on qualifications, may assist supervisor by serving as assistant musical director for CSUSB Opera Theater.
