About The Position

With supervision by the principals, the MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Support) Facilitator will facilitate the process of guiding evidence-based instructional practices for the Pre-K12 classrooms. The MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Support) Facilitator will coordinate and collaborate with other instructional staff members to provide professional development to faculty/staff of best practices in standards-based instruction at all tiers of student learning, thereby improving the educational outcomes of all students.

Requirements

  • 5 years of classroom experience and training in mentoring and teacher leadership
  • Understanding of researched based intervention strategies/ Science of Reading (specifically elementary)
  • Organizational skills, and communication abilities to effectively coach and support teachers and their instructional teams.
  • Teacher Evaluation ratings of accomplished/distinguished (three years)
  • Met or exceeded growth as prescribed by EVAAS
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Computer Skills: Familiarity with basic computer operation and software. Ability to learn various computer operations required for management of student information and integration of technology in classroom instruction.
  • Other: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs; ability to plan and implement lessons based on the division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents; skill in oral and written communication.

Responsibilities

  • Provides training, consultation, and support to administrators, teachers, and school-based leadership teams to facilitate implementation of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) at school and sometimes district level.
  • Observe and provide feedback to teachers, model, interpret data and other supportive assistance necessary to implement a Multi-Tiered System of Supports and maintain cooperative working relationships with parents, staff, and other district personnel.
  • Works collaboratively with academics and student services to improve Tier I instruction and provide evidenced-based intervention strategies during tier II instruction.
  • Monitors the fidelity of implementation of MTSS at the school level including both academic and behavior support systems.
  • Monitors process to ensure compliance and adherence to district procedures, state guidelines, and federal regulations.
  • Attends all professional development and district-level MTSS meetings and communicates monthly with the District Leadership Team.
  • Maintains effective and timely written and oral communication with parents, staff and other school personnel.
  • Member of School Improvement Team
  • Review and study most current research/professional literature regarding effective instructional practices in all tiers of the MTSS Framework.
  • Assist teachers and instructional staff in their development of research-based instructional practices that support the development of language, early literacy, and mathematical skills of targeted students as applicable.
  • Collect and analyze student data
  • Oversees data collection and progress monitoring
  • Use data to assist teachers with their planning of whole and small group instruction
  • Use data to assist teachers identify and group students based on instructional needs
  • Support teachers in documenting all student progress.
  • Attend PLC meetings
  • Serves, as requested on district committees.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Academics and Accountability.
