About The Position

Provide quality MRI Imaging to patients under the direction of a supervising physician with adherence to the required protocol standards. Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, located in Norfolk, VA, is a 525-bed tertiary care facility that is home to the only Level I Adult Trauma Center and burn trauma unit in Hampton Roads, and also serves as the primary teaching hospital for Eastern Virginia Medical School. The hospital specializes in heart and vascular, neurosciences, neurosurgery, urology, oncology, spine care, advanced imaging, behavioral health, maternity, and women’s health, including a state-of-the-art neonatal intensive care unit. Requirements

  • Education: ALD Radiologic Sciences or Trade school certification
  • Certification/Licensure: ARRT MR
  • Experience: 1 year x-ray experience to cross train

Responsibilities

  • Administration of MRI contrast per protocol
  • Evaluates and approves patient MRI safety screening form prior to patient entering scanner
  • Knowledge of MRI safety zones and other safety regulations
  • Reviewing patient records for accuracy and evaluating all implants and devices through vendor resources
  • Acting as a liaison with physician and supportive care personnel
  • Maintaining patients records, reports, and files
  • Performs patient MRI exams per protocol
  • Reviews imaging for accuracy and quality prior to sending for interpretation
  • Explains examination and procedures to patients and completes departmental documentation
