In the MRI Imaging Education Specialist/MRSO role, you will provide all training for modality upgrades and technical advances. Your work will focus on executing the MR safety practices as defined and ordered for the site by the MRMD or MR Physician. Using your cross-sectional anatomy, pathologic processes, and MRI safety protocol experience, you will help enhance the department and, ultimately, patient care. A caregiver in this position works from 8:00am—4:30pm.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
  • Registered Technologist (R.T.(R)(ARRT)) through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in good standing
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging [R.T.(R)(MR)(ARRT)] Certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • American Board of Magnetic Resonance Safety (ABMRS) within one year of hire, achieving the status of Magnetic Resonance Safety Officer (MRSO), Magnetic Resonance Safety Certified (MRSC™)
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and related pathologic processes
  • Understanding of and ability to execute on MRI safety protocols and standards
  • 5 years of recent modality experience with the ability to optimize equipment site specifications
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and perform clinical and research exams.
  • Produce images of optimal quality for interpretation with accuracy and without delay.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to physicians, technologists, students, industry representatives and regional imaging facilities.
  • Work with Education Coordinator to establish and coordinate educational training sessions, course syllabus and education credits.
  • Serve as a specialty resource related to patient care, imaging, and technology.
  • Perform the development component, including data collection, recording and analysis for Clinical and Research Imaging.
  • Work with Clinical and Research Departments to develop protocols to promote the ability to publish.
  • Attend vendor-specific training sessions.
  • Advise MR conditional guidelines or execute decisions (as per the MRMD policy/guidance) regarding approval or denial of scanning for specific implants in specific clinical situations/questions.
  • Research, approve and triage patients with active implants.
  • Perform American College of Radiology (ACR) Accreditation.
  • Update MRI protocols on scanners and MRI Imaging Education SharePoint as needed.
  • Act as a MR education and safety resource for Radiologists, Technologists and LIPs.
  • Orientate and train new hires.
  • Rotate through all diagnostic imaging MRI locations, as needed.
