About The Position

The MoveUP: Reduce & Reuse Initiative at the University of Portland is seeking a dedicated lead student to oversee the program's logistics and operations. The initiative focuses on reducing waste during student move-in and move-out periods by redistributing reusable items and fostering a culture of sustainability on campus. This position will start January 2025, and you will be trained by the current lead students until the end of the academic year 2025/2026. The MoveUP director of operaetions will play a critical role in managing the program and coordinating logistics. More information about MoveUP can be found here. Requirements

  • Freshman, Sophomore or Junior status
  • Up to 20 hours of availability during dead week, finals week and fall move-in week and 2-4 hours per week during the remainder of the semester.
  • Fully available for 1 year on campus (hybrid during summer 2026)
  • Proactive, forward thinking, professional communicator with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
  • Comfortable engaging with students, faculty, staff, and external partners
  • Willingness to be hands-on during move-in/move-out periods, including lifting and sorting items
  • Proficient experience using Microsoft office suite, specifically Excel and Word, and other software when necessary

Responsibilities

  • Represent the mission of MoveUP when meeting with key stakeholders and interacting with the university community and community organizations.
  • Utilize project management software to coordinate logistics with community organizations for donation items as well as project timeline management.
  • Hiring, training, scheduling, and overseeing student assistant workers for donation and marketplace programs.
  • Inventory, rental payment, marketplace logistics management.
  • Meet with campus partners to coordinate permissions, space use, and operational support for both donation and marketplace programs.
  • Tracking and reporting KPI's for donation and marketplace programs.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned
