About The Position

This role is responsible for the safe pick-up, packing, delivery and unpacking of donated items from the local community to a Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity ReStore. This is a hands on, physically demanding position moving typically large items but with a rewarding mission. Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity builds homes, hope and community in the Cape Fear region.

Requirements

  • Be committed to the Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity’s mission
  • Valid driver license with proof of clear certified Motor Vehicle Report required with application submission
  • Must be able to lift 75+ lbs., stand, squat, bend, and climb on a consistent basis
  • Ability to efficiently navigate New Hanover County and surrounding areas
  • Able to work outdoors, even in inclement weather
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • High School graduate or higher
  • Satisfactory results on criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening test

Nice To Haves

  • Experience moving furniture and driving a box truck helpful, but not required
  • Familiarity with building materials is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Represents ReStore in a professional manner when dealing with donors, volunteers, fellow staff members, and the general public
  • Communicates effectively with donors and coworkers to ensure the efficient operation of collections.
  • Operating a Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity Box truck or other vehicle(s)
  • Must follow all applicable traffic and motor carrier laws
  • Conducts on-site screening on all donated items, refusing unacceptable items and providing referrals where possible
  • Loads and secures donated materials from around New Hanover County and surrounding areas, honoring the schedule and arrangements made with donors; unloads those materials in warehouse
  • Completes and submits donation receipts and reports as directed
  • Assist in keeping donation trucks well maintained and clean, notifying management of minor repairs and preventative maintenance as needed
  • Keep the drop-off area, warehouse, and aisles clean and organized, adhering to any safety standards and regulations
  • Encourages volunteer program success by contributing to a positive, supportive atmosphere and encouraging volunteer engagement
  • Any other tasks assigned by the ReStore Driver Supervisor
