About The Position

This position reports to Vice President of Real Estate and Business Services and responsible for hiring, training, motivating, mentoring the mortgage units sales force and managing the origination process for the credit union’s mortgage loans. The Mortgage Production Assistant Manager assists the VP of Real Estate and Business Services in achieving goals and objectives set for the department. Production Leadership includes, but not limited to Mortgage Originator production volume, Business Development activities, Mortgage Loan Origination pipeline management, loan submissions quality. The Production Assistant Manager is also responsible for the Mortgage Originations staff and process following all regulatory, agency, investor, and Raiz policies and procedures. The Production Assistant Manager also is responsible for successful audits (internal and external) relating to the origination staff and processes. The Production Assistant Manager will also be responsible for established personal mortgage loan production and lead by example in production volume and the quality of submissions. This position requires dynamic leadership qualities, a sales culture mentality, methodical and analytical skills with the oversight and monitoring of the mortgage loan origination process and staff, along with loan pricing and product profitability. Requirements

Education – Associate's degree or minimum 60 college credits
Minimum 5 years of Mortgage Lending Experience
Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or management experience
Good understanding of financial industry concepts, related laws, and regulations. Including understanding of the mortgage loan process along, with required documentation, and regulatory disclosure timelines.
Knowledgeable of Mortgage Lending underwriting guidelines.
Understanding of HMDA procedures and reporting.
Understanding of Real Estate Appraisal Valuations and title reports/commitments
Excellent communication skills and avid listener, strong business writing is a must.
Quick to adapt to fast paced environment.
High integrity, detail oriented, and ability to evaluate risk.
Strong leadership and supervisory skills
Excellent financial analysis abilities.
Solid communication and negotiation abilities.
Strong public relations skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, reporting tools and web-based applications.

Responsibilities

Originates Personal Mortgage Production at assigned volume within budget or exceeds budgeted goals.
Assumes responsibility of development and implementation of effective Mortgage Origination policies, procedures, and planning to optimize loan production growth and profitability.
Stays abreast of Mortgage Lending regulatory requirements. Conduct periodic reviews of existing origination policies and procedures and assist with required revisions or modification to ensure compliance.
Executes established Origination goals and production objectives to ensure an effective, efficient, and growth-oriented lending department.
Monitors and evaluates work quality, efficiency, and productivity of Loan origination staff
Provides suggestions for improved Loan Origination service delivery
Seeks new methods to accomplish departmental tasks.
Tracks Origination workflow.
Ensures that deadlines are kept, and records and loan documentation are complete and accurate.
Monthly Origination reports are complete, accurate, and provided in a timely manner.
Coordinates, schedules, and directs Originations activities. Schedules annual leaves and ensures adequate personnel coverage.
Oversees all Mortgage Originations projects as assigned.
Ensures that Originations functions are completed in accordance with established policies, procedures, program requirements, and related legal standards.
Ensures the integrity and accuracy of all Origination loan and account documents.
Engages in business development activities and solicitation of new business and training Loan Originators to engage with realtors, builders, contractors, and/or other local establishments.
Attendance and/or participation with Community or Industry Organization to promote Mortgage Lending; i.e. Mortgage Bankers, El Paso Homebuilders, WCR, etc.
Provides leadership to Department personnel through effective objective setting, delegation, and communication.
Conducts Origination staff meetings and informs personnel of policy and procedural changes.
Discusses areas needing improvement and encourages employee suggestions
Assists in meeting annual deposit and loan growth goals assigned by senior management.
Ensures that origination personnel are well trained, effective, and optimally used. Identifies training needs and develops appropriate training programs. Conducts training sessions and cross-trains as appropriate.
Ensures that origination staffing levels are adequate and prepares analysis for additional staffing. Interviews, and makes recommendations hiring, and assigns personnel.
Conducts performance appraisals as required. Establishes goals with each employee. Formulates and implements corrective actions as needed. Completes salary reviews and ensures that job descriptions are current.
Assists and supports Mortgage Lending personnel as needed.
Represents the Credit Union in contacts with business professionals and borrowers.
Ensures that requests, questions, and problems are courteously and professionally resolved.
Ensures that borrowers are appropriately informed of Credit Union services, programs, and policies.
Ensures that the Credit Union's professional reputation is maintained both internally and externally.
Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with Credit Union personnel and with management.
Assists and serves branches and related departments as needed.
Keeps the Vice President of Real Estate and Business Services informed of area activities and of any significant problems or concerns.
Completes reports, records, and other documentation as required.
Stays abreast of changes in Mortgage Lending, HMDA Reporting, and Agency Guidelines.
Completes special projects as assigned.
Ensures that work areas are clean, secure, and well maintained.
Complies with all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) rules and regulations. Attends required annual BSA training.
