The Vice President of Mortgage Production is responsible for leading Chartway’s mortgage production strategy with a strong focus on team leadership, cultural alignment, market growth, and consistent execution across the Mortgage Loan Officer team. This role leads and stabilizes the team, strengthens production discipline, and builds sustainable market momentum. Responsible for driving production across both purchase and refinance segments and adapting strategies as market conditions evolve. The Vice President of Mortgage Production reports to the Senior Vice President of Real Estate Lending and is accountable for clear production expectations, disciplined pipeline management, and the development of strong referral relationships. The role partners closely with Mortgage Operations, Underwriting, and Servicing leaders to ensure an efficient and member focused experience while remaining distinct from operational responsibilities. The role oversees production performance across all assigned markets through structured territory management practices and maintains strong awareness of competitor pricing, products, and market activity to support Chartway’s competitive positioning.

Requirements

Strong knowledge of mortgage loan products, production strategies, referral development, pricing, and the origination lifecycle.
Ability to lead a distributed Mortgage Loan Officer team and foster a cohesive, performance driven, and culturally aligned environment.
Skilled in interpreting mortgage market conditions, competitive dynamics, and production data to inform coaching, strategy, and territory focus.
Ability to create and execute a results-oriented production plan that aligns with business goals and drives sustainable growth.
Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to partner effectively across departments while maintaining clear ownership of production responsibilities.
Proficiency with LOS and POS systems, pricing engines, and automated underwriting engines such as Desktop Underwriter and Loan Prospector.
Ability to represent Chartway at industry events and build trusted professional relationships with realtors, builders, and other referral partners.
Ability to observe and escalate suspicious activity in accordance with Bank Secrecy Act requirements.
Willingness to travel across Chartway’s markets.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
Minimum of eight years of experience in mortgage production or in a mortgage sales environment with a record of growing production and leading high performing teams.
Experience with both purchase and refinance production required, with demonstrated strength in referral-based environments.
Candidates must have a good credit history for consideration.

Responsibilities

Lead, coach, and develop the Mortgage Loan Officer team to drive consistent and sustainable production across both purchase and refinance segments.
Establish performance expectations, accountability routines, and cultural standards that promote a high performing and supportive member focused production environment.
Oversee the mortgage production pipeline including applications, locks, submissions, and funded loans with attention to quality, pull through, and conversion.
Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production performance and implement coaching strategies or interventions as needed to improve individual and team outcomes.
Manage production performance across multiple markets using structured territory management practices that support local engagement and referral growth.
Build strong, field focused relationships with real estate agents, builders, title companies, and referral partners to deepen external engagement and grow market presence.
Represent Chartway within the mortgage lending community and industry organizations to enhance awareness, reputation, and referral connections.
Maintain strong awareness of competitor pricing, products, and frontline insights to ensure Chartway remains well positioned in each market.
Hire, develop, and retain high performing Mortgage Loan Officers in alignment with organizational values, culture, and performance expectations.
Strengthen cultural health through communication, coaching, and transparent expectations across the Mortgage Loan Officer team.
Collaborate with Mortgage Operations, Underwriting, and Processing leaders to ensure an efficient origination experience while maintaining clear ownership of production responsibilities.
Partner with Marketing and Community Engagement on campaigns, events, and outreach initiatives that support mortgage production and market expansion.
Contribute to annual mortgage production planning including volume goals, revenue forecasts, expense awareness, and staffing recommendations.
Review production performance reporting and collaborate with the Senior Vice President of Real Estate Lending to adjust strategies, territory focus, and resource deployment.
Ensure practices comply with all applicable regulations including Regulations B, C, X, Z, Fair Housing Act, and Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Promote responsible lending practices and remain alert to suspicious activity that may require escalation under the Bank Secrecy Act.
