Job Purpose Assist the driver in the safe operation of the assigned route and support student management as defined by the school.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work early morning hours
  • Maintain a professional, respectful attitude toward coworkers, students, parents, and customers
  • Dress in a professional and appropriate manner for a business environment
  • Perform all job duties safely, adhering to OSHA guidelines and applicable federal and state laws
  • Follow all company policies and procedures
  • Ability to use, or willingness to learn, internet‑based systems, required software programs, and office equipment (e.g., phones, fax machines, and other electronic devices)

Responsibilities

  • Learn and follow assigned routes using route sheets or electronic routing devices
  • Manage student behavior and communicate any concerns or incidents to the driver
  • Assist with pre‑trip and post‑trip bus inspections, including child checks, CSRS, and wheelchair lifts
  • Support students during loading and unloading, including operation of wheelchair lifts
  • Maintain positive communication with school personnel, parents, and students
  • Attend all required safety meetings and training sessions
  • Assist with emergency evacuations, including use of emergency exits
  • Clean the interior of the bus, including sweeping, dusting, and cleaning windows
  • Perform additional duties or specialized functions as required by contract
