About The Position

The Molding Process Engineer will play a key role in new product launches, mold sampling, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires hands-on experience in injection molding, a strong understanding of tooling and automation systems, and the ability to lead training and process development efforts across production teams.

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of hands-on plastics processing experience, preferably in automotive injection molding.
  • Technical degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong knowledge of molding parameters, tooling design, and mold flow analysis.
  • Familiarity with standard quality and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Proficient with computers and capable of reading tooling prints and process documentation.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Program Managers in launching new products by collaborating with Tool, Manifold, and Secondary Equipment Suppliers to ensure optimum performance.
  • Sample new molds and materials, providing feedback, documentation, and improvement recommendations.
  • Develop process sheets, water diagrams, and hot-runner diagrams for all assigned jobs.
  • Create operator instructions for secondary and automated equipment.
  • Optimize molding processes to improve efficiency, product quality, and scrap reduction.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., mistake-proofing, workflow optimization, cost reduction).
  • Program robots and automation equipment; design and refine end-of-arm tooling.
  • Configure work cells and layouts to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Partner with the Tool Room and Maintenance teams to resolve tooling and equipment issues and maintain PM compliance.
  • Support Process Technicians by resolving escalated processing challenges.
  • Oversee and conduct training related to processes, robotics, and assembly equipment.
  • Provide on-call support for off-shift production as needed.
  • Use structured problem-solving tools (DOE, capability studies, A3P) to identify and eliminate process issues.
  • Comply with all OSHA and internal safety procedures and maintain adherence to company policies and quality standards.
