About The Position

The Injection Molding Process Engineer develops and optimizes molding processes to ensure high‑quality production. The role leads process improvements, troubleshoots molding issues, and works closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Maintenance. It also includes supervisory duties for molding technicians, supporting training, process adherence, and daily performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • 4 years’ injection molding experience
  • Strong knowledge of plastic materials, mold design fundamentals, and processing parameters
  • Proficiency with root cause analysis and problem‑solving methodologies
  • Hands-on experience with setup and operation of molding machines, material feed systems, and auxiliary equipment
  • Strong technical writing skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with high cavitation, high volume Injection Molding processes
  • Experience with flexible film packaging, pouch forming, sealing machines
  • Knowledge of BRC, ISO, SQF
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing

Responsibilities

  • Develops molding processes by studying product/material requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and materials (i.e., Molds, Equipment and Resins) conferring with material vendors as required
  • Evaluates manufacturing process by conducting Design of Experiment testing, applying knowledge of product Design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials and soliciting observations from operators
  • Create Process Sheets and other reference materials
  • Works with the engineering department to improve production floor efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction
  • Work on cost reduction and continuous improvement projects
  • Work with the quality group on short-term and long-term corrective action solutions
  • Provide directions and training to Process Technicians for day-to-day activities as well as continuous improvement projects
  • Supervising molding technicians, supporting training, process adherence, and daily performance
  • Report any potential food safety, quality of food defense concerns to the plant manager or quality personnel
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • Follow all documented Good Manufacturing Practices and company policies and procedures
