Vedder's Chicago office is seeking a Mobility Engineer. The Mobility Engineer provides technology leadership and subject matter expertise for various aspects of Vedder’s Mobile Device Management (MDM) system infrastructure, including security, high availability and a positive user experience. This role also supports the Firm’s Windows endpoint environment to help ensure stable, secure, and consistent access to enterprise services across mobile and desktop platforms. Undertakes complex projects requiring specialized technical knowledge. Coordinates with management and practice area leads to determine mobile and endpoint feature and functionality requirements. Assists with ensuring system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored in order to increase efficiency. Performs system support and issue resolution duties. As the Mobility Engineer, your job duties will include but not be limited to: Provides MDM systems engineering and support, focusing on maintaining and enhancing end user access to mission critical services via mobile devices, including email, calendaring, documents and various native/web apps. Works closely with technical staff supporting enterprise email, applications, content and other services accessible from mobile and desktop devices to ensure reliability and availability. Develops, documents, and tests reliable backup and contingency plans to fulfill system requirements for business continuity. Investigates new technologies that offer opportunities to enhance and improve the Vedder’s mobile service offering in terms of devices, components, apps and associated infrastructure. Assists in evaluating, approving and implementing updates to existing server software, mobile operating systems, desktop operating systems, and applications. Maintains a thorough and up-to-date understanding of the MDM infrastructure supporting the delivery of mobile services, including network topology, server architectures, enterprise system integration, identity services, and device management platforms. Supports the administration and maintenance of the Firm’s Windows endpoint platform, including configuration management using Microsoft Intune, SCCM/MECM, and related tools. Assists in maintaining endpoint and MDM configuration policies, compliance enforcement, and security settings, including BitLocker and related controls. Supports endpoint update processes, including Windows security updates, feature updates, Microsoft 365 updates, and third-party application patching platforms such as Patch My PC. Packages, tests, and deploys Firm applications across managed endpoint devices and maintains related documentation. Monitors endpoint health and compliance reporting, identifying and remediating configuration issues where appropriate. Interfaces with management, developers, engineers, technology support center staff, and end-users throughout the firm to develop mobile and endpoint strategies and meet objectives. Prepares and collaborates on end user communications and documentation. Performs all tasks and duties in a manner that supports the Firm’s objective to produce error-free work and to provide high quality customer service. Must meet or exceed the service and quality performance standards or objectives for the assigned function. Leverages industry knowledge and research to provide feedback and input to management to help assess and plan future direction in the system infrastructure. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
