About The Position

The Mobile Device Support Specialist provides technical support and administration for Polk County’s mobile devices, including smartphones, tablets, and cellular data equipment. This position ensures the secure deployment, management, and operation of mobile technology using Microsoft Intune, while collaborating with the IT Service Desk, PC Support, and Network teams.

Requirements

• Knowledge of Microsoft Intune, Azure Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 enterprise mobility tools.
• Mobile OS platforms include iOS, Android, and Windows.
• Networking technologies include TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
• Skills in deploying and managing mobile devices using Microsoft Intune.
• Configuring compliance policies, conditional access, and security rules.
• Supporting zero-touch deployment using Apple DEP, Android Enterprise, and Windows Autopilot.
• Troubleshooting mobile and wireless issues in a technical support environment.
• Using Help Desk ticketing or tracking systems effectively.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with end-users, IT staff, management, and vendors.
• Document technical processes clearly and train staff on mobile systems.
• Resolve technical challenges in mobile environments in a scalable, secure manner.
• Graduate from an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma.
• Minimum of two years’ experience supporting mobile device management (MDM), including Microsoft Intune or similar platforms.
• An equivalent combination of education, training, or experience directly related to the duties of this position may be substituted for the stated minimum qualifications, except for required licenses or certifications.
• Must have and continue to maintain a valid CompTIA A+ certification.

Nice To Haves

• Experience using Microsoft Intune (Endpoint Manager) in a production environment.
• Familiarity with Azure Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and related enterprise mobility solutions.
• Experience integrating Intune with third-party security or device management tools.
• Microsoft certifications related to Intune, Endpoint Management, or Azure.
• Experience working with Polk County Information Technology applications and operations is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and manage mobile devices using Microsoft Intune.
• Coordinates with personnel to activate and enroll mobile devices in a secure and automated environment.
• Administer Mobile Application Management (MAM) and Mobile Device Management (MDM) via Intune for iOS, Android, and Windows platforms.
• Generate reports on activity, performance, and compliance using Intune’s reporting tools.
• Troubleshoots mobile connectivity issues related to VPN, Wi-Fi, and cellular networks.
• Develop and enforce mobile device policies, security configurations, and compliance rules.
• Implement conditional access, zero-touch deployment (e.g., Apple DEP, Android Enterprise, Windows Autopilot), and other advanced security methods.
• Assesses security risks and recommend secure apps and platform integrations.
• Integrate Intune with Azure Active Directory and other Microsoft 365 services.
• Support the configuration of mobile devices in the County’s archiving and compliance systems.
• Create technical documentation and deliver training for internal IT staff and end-users on best practices for Intune and mobile device use.
