About The Position

We are seeking a Mobile Co-Responder Clinician to join our team at 660 E. Erie Ave (Behavorial Health Unit) - Philadelphia, PA. This posting is for Full Time, Monday - Friday, 10:00a - 6:00p (subject to change). The Mobile Co-Responder Clinician accompanies Crisis Intervention Trained (C.I.T) Philadelphia Police Officers in responding to mental health crises in Philadelphia. After police have secured the scene, the Clinician works with the individual and their community supports to assess and de-escalate a crisis, determine the level of care necessary to meet the individual's needs, develop alternatives to involuntary hospitalization through conducting assessments, treatment planning, counseling, and coordination of community care linkages and discharge process. This position does NOT work remotely and is community based.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work, Psychology, Counseling or a related behavioral health discipline.
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and appropriate clinical judgment when assessing the level of risk and determining resolution of client emergencies, resulting in a safe outcome.
  • Must possess crisis management and de-escalation skills.
  • Effective and timely communication.
  • Strong clinical documentation skills and ability to manage and maintain accurate and timely data collection and documentation in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment with individuals that are actively experiencing crisis situations.
  • Experience with applying Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques with above-average skill, utilizing empathy, rolling with resistance, developing discrepancy, supporting self-efficacy, and effectively managing confrontation.

Responsibilities

  • Providing triage, support, crisis counseling, information, and referrals for community members.
  • Performing face to face level of care assessment and facilitating connections to appropriate level of care.
  • Providing face to face crisis counseling and planning.
  • Completing applications for involuntary commitment and arranging emergency psychiatric evaluation as needed.
