About The Position

This position acts as the primary liaison to prospective, new, and currently enrolled students in assigned programs college-wide and on the Thief River Falls campus. The incumbent serves as the primary advisor on individual advising, group advising, and teaching others how to advise. This position provides college-wide recruiting services as needed and coordinates the Thief River Falls annual campus graduation ceremony. - Act as a comprehensive advocate and advisor for students to ensure their success. - Collaborate with Academic & Student Affairs personnel to assess and improve first-year student experiences by addressing equity gaps. - Coordinate the Thief River Falls graduation ceremony.

Requirements

  • Three years of related professional work experience; a master’s degree may substitute for 18 months professional work experience; a bachelor’s degree may substitute for 12 months professional work experience; an associate degree may substitute for 6 months professional work experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of student development.
  • Experience with computer software applications and systems with the ability to create business correspondence, reports, and presentations.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and independently make decisions regarding workload and routine problems and/or situations.
  • Problem solving skills with the ability to set priorities, reason analytically, determine alternative solutions, and analyze and interpret information with a high degree of accountability and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills (written and oral) in order to communicate effectively without supervision or review, includes public speaking skills to present information in a clear and actionable way to small and large groups.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to explain and help interpret complex policies involving multiple departments, systems, and levels, such as records and registration, financial aid, business services, bookstore, and admissions.

  • In accordance with the Minnesota State’s Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to MinnState’s vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
  • The successful candidate under U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations must be able to accept work in the U.S. by the day employment begins.

  • Baccalaureate Degree in a related field, e.g. Human Resources, Public Administration, Social Work
