About The Position

This position is located in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Trade (OT). The position serves as a Mission Support Specialist and plans and carries out a wide variety of mission support, workforce management, administrative research, and program planning activities related to the missions and functions of the Office of Trade. This position starts at a salary of $73,939.00 (GS-11, Step 1) to $115,213.00 (GS-12, Step 10) with promotion potential to $115,213 (GS-12 Step 10). The employee performs assignments of moderate difficulty requiring the application of fundamental principles, concepts, techniques, and guidelines in an administrative specialty area(s).

  • Experience: You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Preparing local records and assisting with producing various reports. Coordinating with the supervisor and staff to ensure receipt of documents and that actions are completed in a timely manner. Gathering necessary information and preparing briefing materials for supervisors and other senior management officials.
  • Experience: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Coordinating and monitoring administrative projects such as logistics, space, budget etc. Gathering information to identify and analyze problems and make recommendations to improve effectiveness and efficiency of work. Developing new or modified administrative program work methods, approaches or procedures for delivering effective services to customers.

  • Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and

  • The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.   • Residency: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by CBP. Individuals are required to have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates (as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years.

Responsibilities

  • Applying a wide range of administrative programs concepts, laws, policies, practices and analytical methods to address technical issues or problems.
  • Performing administrative services essential to office operations such as, equipment, financial management, logistics and records management, ordering supply request, greetings guests, and answering phones.
  • Developing new or modified administrative program work methods, approaches, or procedures for delivering effective services to customers.
  • Developing and delivering briefings, projects, papers, status/staff reports, and correspondence to managers to foster understanding and acceptance or findings and recommendations.
  • Representing the office in dealings with vendors and organizations within the agency.
