The Role: Mission Control Network Supervisor This role leads Mission Control Network operations and ensures reliable monitoring and response for Switchs mission-critical network systems. You supervise technicians responsible for real-time monitoring and incident response, while acting as an escalation point during service-impacting events. The role combines people leadership, incident command, and continuous improvement of monitoring tools and processes.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates steady people leadership in a 24/7 operational environment.
  • Exercises sound judgment during service-impacting incidents.
  • Communicates clearly and calmly under pressure.
  • Manages multiple concurrent events without losing focus on service quality.
  • Holds team members accountable while supporting growth and development.
  • 2 or more years of experience in a supervisory or team lead role within network or IT operations, or prior experience as a Mission Control Network Technician II.
  • Strong background in network operations, monitoring, and incident management.
  • Working knowledge of network topologies, circuit types, and service delivery models.
  • Familiarity with Switch products, mission-critical services, and supported data center infrastructure.
  • Experience with network monitoring platforms and terminal access tools.
  • Ability to manage schedules, priorities, and on-call rotations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • ITIL Foundation certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Leadership training required within 12 months of hire.
  • Associate degree in IT, a technical trade, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Network+, CCST, CCNA, A+, or Security+ certifications preferred, not required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day activities of Mission Control Network technicians and ensure shift coverage and operational readiness.
  • Act as an escalation point for network incidents, including participation in on-call rotations.
  • Lead network incident response, including initiating and managing bridge calls and communication channels.
  • Ensure incident after-action reports are completed and reviewed when required.
  • Deliver timely, accurate updates to internal stakeholders during incidents and maintenance events.
  • Track incidents, alerts, and maintenance activity to support trend analysis and reporting.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce standard operating procedures.
  • Review tools and workflows regularly and drive continuous operational improvements.
  • Coach, train, and mentor Mission Control Network team members.
