The Role: Mission Control Technician This role supports the real-time monitoring and coordination of Switchs mission-critical infrastructure. You monitor systems, respond to alerts, coordinate investigations, and ensure issues are documented, escalated, and resolved according to established procedures. Your work helps protect uptime, safety, and customer trust in a 24/7 operating environment.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in IT operations, network operations, or a similar technical support role.
  • Experience monitoring systems, investigating alerts, and managing incidents through resolution.
  • Foundational understanding of network topologies and the OSI model.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues across multiple infrastructure domains.
  • Experience using ticketing and monitoring tools.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts in a 24/7 operations environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in data center, NOC, SOC, or other mission-critical environments.
  • Familiarity with electrical and mechanical systems such as UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs, and cooling systems.
  • Experience with terminal access and monitoring tools such as SSH, PuTTY, Syslog, or Nagios.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or comparable certifications.
  • Willingness to obtain OSHA 10 certification within six months.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor critical infrastructure systems including power, cooling, security, safety, and network connectivity.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for alerts, events, and incident investigations during assigned shifts.
  • Interpret alarms, diagnose issues, initiate remediation, and escalate when needed.
  • Create, update, and close incident tickets with accurate timelines and documentation.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and network carriers to resolve incidents.
  • Perform approved configuration tasks following documented instructions and security policies.
  • Produce clear incident summaries and post-event reports.
  • Provide timely, professional support to customers during incidents.
  • Follow defined escalation, notification, and communication procedures.
  • Work scheduled shifts, including nights, weekends, and rotations as required.
