About The Position

The Missile Tracking Systems Engineer will design and model satellite-to-ground traffic data flows supporting missile tracking operations for the Space Development Agency’s Ground, Management, and Integration (GMI) program. This role focuses on communications traffic modeling, RF protocol analysis, and satellite service scheduling to ensure reliable delivery of missile tracking data from satellite constellations to ground operational networks.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related STEM field
  • Active Department of Defense Top Secret clearance required at time of hire
  • 15+ years experience modeling communication data traffic, preferably involving satellite constellations and ground networks
  • 10+ years experience with satellite-to-ground RF communication protocols, packet prioritization, routing, or traffic modeling
  • Satellite communications architecture
  • RF communications protocols
  • Network traffic modeling
  • Satellite constellation data flow modeling
  • Packet prioritization and routing
  • Systems engineering and requirements decomposition

Nice To Haves

  • Missile tracking systems architecture
  • Sensor fusion for space-based missile detection
  • Satellite tasking and service scheduling
  • Cloud-based system architectures
  • Image processing and analysis (collection, storage, processing pipelines)

Responsibilities

  • Perform systems engineering and requirements decomposition to develop traffic data models for satellite constellation communications.
  • Model data flow from space-based sensors through satellite networks to ground infrastructure.
  • Design and analyze satellite scheduling strategies (pre-planned and dynamic) for missile tracking operations.
  • Evaluate packet prioritization, routing, and RF communication protocols across satellite-to-ground communication networks.
  • Conduct analysis of missile tracking telemetry and traffic flow data to validate system performance models.
  • Support integration, testing, and verification of ground operational systems within the SDA GMI architecture.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams supporting ground entry points, operations centers, enterprise test environments, and infrastructure management.

Benefits

  • Applicants selected for employment will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background investigation, which may include education, criminal, and work history verifications.
  • Accepted applicants will be eligible for benefits, including medical and supplemental insurance, and a 401(k) plan.
  • Appreciation and gratitude for employees are hallmarks of organizations with low turnover.
  • Final position level and pay will be based on experience.
