About The Position

Description Essential Functions Monitors the performance of the computer/telecom Networks. a. Maintains disk space on all computer/telecom networks on a daily basis. b. Tracks server utilization statistics and makes recommendations for more efficient use. c. Monitors traffic on backbone and suggest ways to optimize the data transfer between work stations and servers. d. Evaluates the performance of routers and makes recommendations for improving performance. e. Monitors the performance of all servers and gateways. f. Maintains a log of user problems to evaluate the relationship they may have with the data/telecom Networks. Performs upgrades to Data/Telecom Networks. a. Provides written recommendations including pricing and justification of the desired upgrade to Management. b. Develops a written plan for every upgrade that will be performed. c. Notifies the customer prior to any major system changes or repairs. d. Performs upgrades at a time that is convenient to the customers (i.e., nights or weekends as needed). e. Thoroughly tests all Data/telecom network functions after any upgrade has been performed to ensure full user functionality the following day. Implements new technologies. a. Evaluates new software that may enhance the services offered by the data/ telecom networks. b. Evaluates hardware changes that will provide enhanced or additional functionality to the Networks. c. Keeps current on new industry standards and trends. d. Uses pilot programs for installation of new technologies. e. Evaluates different operating systems for performance and functionality. Project Management. a. Determine system requirements for any project. b. Translate and quote vendor specifications to ensure the clinic is able to meet them. c. Maintain a project/task list with assignments to ensure projects are being tracked appropriately and obstacles are identified in a timely manner. d. Maintain a positive/active interaction with leadership to ensure project success and appropriate road mapping of future plans. Item Reporting and Review. a. Ensure all reporting departments are utilizing the trouble ticketing system for all tasks. b. Review tickets on a consistent basis and report any abnormalities to MIS Director. c. Review tickets for accuracy and resolution status to ensure staff are not repeating the same issue or not resolving a ticket as expected. d. Ensure staff maintains a consistent training program to keep them up to date on clinic technology and security measures. Supports customers in a professional manner. a. Interfaces with department heads to analyze and determine microcomputer needs. Evaluates the level of customer satisfaction. b. Plans additions, changes and relocations of microcomputer equipment. c. Coordinates outside serviceor consulting when necessary. d. Oversees the set-up, configuration and maintenance of the all hardware and software. e. Manage wiring requests to Operations Manager with adequate lead time to ensure meetingInstallation schedule. Audit Review Point of Contact. a. Ensure all information required/requested by any/all auditing bodies approved by management for release is provided in a timely manner. b. Ensure staff are following recommendations of auditing bodies. c. Plan and implement changes to correct/mitigate all audit findings determined to high risk. d. Complete/compile needed documentation for all reporting groups to meet all needed audit requirements and ensure its review prior to any audit. Manage all scheduling of reporting departments to ensure adequate staffing. Recruits, selects, and oversees training of personnel. a. Reviews all applications and resumes for qualified personnel to fill vacant positions. Demonstrates good judgment in hiring decisions. b. Provides orientation to the department and coordinates training to ensure that new personnel are able to meet job requirements within probationary period. c. Completes termination ratings and requisitions in a timely manner. d. Ensures that in-service and training programs are scheduled to meet staff member and department needs. Prepares performance appraisals for direct reports and their subordinates. a. Submits completed approved appraisals prior to the H.R. deadline. b. Evaluates staff’s performance based on the criteria defined in the job description. c. Maintains an ongoing record of each individual’s performance throughout the evaluation period. d. Communicates significant deficiencies and/or accomplishments with each individual throughout the evaluation period and takes corrective action as needed. Adheres to the Clinic’s corrective action policy. Disaster Recovery a. Improve the clinics overall disaster awareness and preparedness including implementing a full disaster recovery location. b. Define and communicate to management all plan awareness and ensure weaknesses/vulnerabilities are communicated. c. Create/maintain with leadership an active disaster recovery process and ensure semi-annual testing. Supervisory Responsibility Network Work Environment& Physical Demands This job is primarily sedentary, but may require the ability to travel to other sites. Lifting of no more than 50 pounds required. Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. Ability to multi-task and change priorities in a typically high stress environment. Ability to work under stressful deadlines. Travel No travel is expected for this position other than occasional travel to regional sites regarding MIS issues.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Computer Science and five years of experience with enterprise level computing devices and networking.
  • Must have strong Windows, OS, and server skills and working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software.
  • Three to five years of experience with Microsoft Active Directory networks.
  • Must possess extraordinary communication and supervisory skills.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with Ethernet and tcp/ip networks.
  • Three to five years experience with servers and networking hardware installations, configuration and troubleshooting, to include switches, routers, vpn/firewalls, telecommunications, etc.
  • Experience with network topology.
  • Experience with TCP/IP and DNS/DHCP communications protocols as well as Active Directory networks.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience from other SQL database systems.
  • Experience with Help Desk ticketing software.
  • Familiarity with healthcare/medical systems.
