About The Position

The Milwaukee County Accounting Manager will develop, implement and monitor all Milwaukee County and Milwaukee County Corps accounting and financial functions. Provide first level management to the Milwaukee County Accounting staff at Divisional Headquarters. Provide second level support to all Milwaukee County staff and Milwaukee County Corps.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License with approval to drive from TSA insurance
  • 5 years of experience in accounting
  • supervisory experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Creates and maintains systems and procedures for agency financial and administrative operations.
  • Prepares, analyzes and submits required financial reports, statements and statistics for internal and external use.
  • Coordinates, prepares, validates and presents operating budgets for all Milwaukee County Corps, Milwaukee County and Booth Manor. Estimates, analyzes and updates financial projections and cash flows.
  • Manages all income and expenditures related to agency programs. Collaborates with Program Accountability Director for all Milwaukee County and Milwaukee County Corps to ensure proper accounting of contracts according to GAAP. Directs and oversees to United Way financial reporting for all Milwaukee County.
  • Facilitates both internal and independent auditors, including designing and preparing specialized reports and monitoring compliance with audit recommendations and monthly and seasonal reporting requirements.
  • Manages the financial reporting, budget preparation and audit coordination of information with Social Service Director. This incorporates collaboration with external audit firm and the Territorial Legal Department, as it relates to required filings of reports and budget for Booth Manor.
  • Instructs, supervises, monitors and evaluates the work performance of the Milwaukee County Accounting staff.
  • Supports units in meeting reporting requirements of the Finance Committees, and helps bridge the relationship with Corps Officers and committee members. Support includes attending finance committee meetings and facilitating the understanding of the Corps financial position to all concerned.
  • Trains incoming Officers in financial matters for Regional Accounting, including the Accounting System and necessary accounting reports.
  • Creates, maintains, updates, and revises reports requested by the Corps Officer and Finance Committees.
  • Performs audits, as assigned, of operating units within the Division, using Auto-audit and SA guidelines set by Territorial Audit Department. Responsibilities include preparing specialized audit reports and monitoring compliance with the audit recommendations and monthly and seasonal reporting requirements.
