Mill Op Trainee
About The Position
Ameristar Perimeter Security USA, an ASSA ABLOY branded company, is seeking a Mill Operator Trainee. This position is responsible for the roll form operations and equipment of the mill to ensure continuous operation during the shift. This is a 2nd shift position, Monday - Thursday from 3:00pm to 1:30am. Requirements
- High school or equivalent
- Experience in using special measuring devices, callipers, tape measure.
- Work with experienced operators on equipment safety and operation.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to retain information that is being taught and shown to new operator.
- Demonstrate ability to meet negotiated time frames
- Good Mechanical Aptitude
- Must be able to document down time through seamless reporting system to drive KPI tracking
- Good communication skills with coworkers to insure continuous flow of the mill and material handler for proper tagging of product.
- Ability to think and react to schedule changes and conditions on the mill.
- Ability to be a contributing and valued team member for continuous improvement activities.
Responsibilities
- Safety, quality, priorities above all
- Focus on the keeping the mill operational
- Maintain clean, safe, organized work area, 5S
- Cross Training of team members on parts programming and mill set ups
- TPM of process and equipment in the area
- Coordinate daily and weekly activities with department supervisor
- Perform visual and manual quality checks of finished products.
- Minimize scrap
- Work with maintenance hands on to get issues resolved in a timely manner.
