Job Summary: Morton Salt Silver Springs is currently looking for a Mill Supervisor who would be responsible for supervising the Can Line on 2nd shift and accountable for the production efficiency of this line. The position requires close coordination with 1st shift Can Line Supervisor on all major job accountabilities and responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience operating in a production packaging environment.
  • Computer Skills (intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and SAP).

  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for Health and Safety Compliance in areas of responsibility.
  • Accountable for providing leadership in support of the Zero-Harm Safety Policy and the Company’s goal of achieving an Injury-Free workplace.
  • Accountable for Continuous Improvement in Workplace Safety by Promptly Addressing the Root Causes of OIIs or Near Misses, Conducting Effective Safety Meetings, Participating in Safety Inspections, Promptly Addressing Safety Concerns Raised by Employees, and Leading by Example.
  • Accountable for Environmental Compliance and operation and recordkeeping for all environmental control equipment.
  • Accountable for compliance with all Quality Control requirements including the Food Safety Plan (FSP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) program.
  • Is familiar with the plants’ FSP program and how it applies to his/her job.
  • Maintains records as required.
  • Is trained and reviews/understands the plant's Food Defense Program (FDP), operational prerequisite program (OPRP).
  • Understands the importance of the FSP program as it pertains to the quality, legality and safety of products.
  • Is instrumental in the documentation of equipment repair/inspection and isolation of downstream equipment to minimize contamination.
  • Accountable for achieving high standards for housekeeping, addressing housekeeping and PRP CAPA's and fully utilizing indirect labor personnel for housekeeping or other assigned tasks.
  • Accountable for adhering to the Maintenance Excellence Work Practices (MEWP).
  • Accountable for supporting the area coordination process by assisting in the prioritization of maintenance work for the weekly schedule.
  • Accountable for submitting clearly written work requests for repair work done in areas of responsibility and ensuring repair work is completed per the return to service policy.
  • Accountable for ensuring equipment is available for scheduled PM and maintenance work.
  • Accountable for ensuring parts are withdrawn properly from storerooms when needed.
  • Accountable for ensuring OPI’s (Operator Performed Inspections) are completed, and work orders are in compliance for areas of responsibility.
  • Accountable for meeting Budget Performance Goals in applicable cost centers.
  • Accountable for managing shift personnel, vacations, and overtime scheduling.
  • Accountable for using Redzone and MCRS tools (Management Control Reporting Systems) to set clear performance expectations for employees, drive performance improvements and communicate issues from shift to shift.
  • Accountable for providing Supervision, Leadership and coaching to employees in areas of responsibility.
  • Accountable for ensuring that Operating Procedures are followed, and that Operators are properly trained.
  • Accountable for meeting all business targets in areas of responsibility and maintaining efficient packaging and loading operations as measured by OEE Targets or other KPIs.
  • Accountable for the Minimization of Scrap, Waste, or Rework.
  • Accountable for monitoring and addressing deficiencies in inventory levels of Carton line package materials and ingredients.
  • Accountable for SOPs, Documentation & Procedure Development.
  • Available to assist in supervising the 2 nd shift mill & bagging department as a back-up.
