About The Position

The Vermont Military Department is looking for a Maintenence Specialist to work at the Camp Ethan Allen Training Site in Jericho.  You'll provide a wide range of maintenance duties in military facilities, as well as support operational maintenance of electrical, plumbing, HVACR, wastewater systems, live fire range and training facilities, maintenance of grounds, ramps, and taxiways, removing snow, debris, and vegetation.   You will also maintain and operate heavy equipment, including but not limited to commercial trucks with plows and wings, front end loaders, dozers, excavators, and ground equipment.  Work is performed on military facilities supported by the Vermont National Guard, with oversite from licensed or qualified personnel and the direction of the District Facilities Manager. An incumbent often works near or with hazardous materials, including ammunition and high voltage. Work requires entering confined spaces, removing snow on runways and exposure to loud noises. An incumbent operates heavy equipment and possession of a Commercial Driver's License is required. An incumbent must be able to climb ladders and lift equipment and materials weighing as much as fifty pounds. Work is performed in all kinds of weather. Some outside of normal working hours may be required. Travel and overnight stay may be included.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent AND three (3) years or more in Construction or Facilities Maintenance.
  • At least one (1) or more years of Military Maintenance Specialist II.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must possess CDL license or complete State approved HVAC course.
  • Incumbents of this job may be required to have a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC) issued, which is issued only upon passing a federal background check (Tier 1) including a fingerprint-supported criminal record check.
  • Possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may be required for assigned duties.

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) or more years of work experience in building construction or maintenance.
  • Building Trades/Vocational Education
  • Previous experience working on a military installation.
  • Knowledge of Building Automation Systems.
  • Locksmith knowledge.
