About The Position

Essential Functions: Instruct middle school program participants in academic or recreational activities during six-week summer program. The Strive Toward Excellence Program (STEP) is looking for: Middle School Theater Arts Instructor Position Summary The STEP Program is seeking a dynamic and engaging Middle School Theater Arts Instructor to deliver a high-quality summer enrichment course for students in grades 7–8. This part-time, temporary position focuses on integrating theater arts with academic development, helping students build confidence, communication skills, creativity, and self-expression.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Theater, Performing Arts, Education, or a related field
  • Experience working with middle school-aged students (teaching, mentoring, or youth programs)
  • Demonstrated background in theater arts (performance, directing, or instruction)
  • Strong classroom management and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to engage diverse learners in an inclusive environment
  • Experience in summer enrichment or college access programs
  • Experience working with first-generation, underrepresented, or underserved student populations
  • Ability to incorporate culturally relevant and engaging content

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for directing and monitoring the work of student and/or temporary workers.
