About The Position

Essential Functions: Instruct middle school program participants in academic or recreational activities during six-week summer program. The ideal candidate is passionate about youth development and can create an inclusive, structured, and energetic learning environment aligned with STEP’s mission. The Strive Toward Excellence Program (STEP) is looking for: Middle School Theater Arts Instructor Position Summary The STEP Program is seeking a dynamic and engaging Middle School Theater Arts Instructor to deliver a high-quality summer enrichment course for students in grades 7–8. This part-time, temporary position focuses on integrating theater arts with academic development, helping students build confidence, communication skills, creativity, and self-expression.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Theater, Performing Arts, Education, or a related field
• Experience working with middle school-aged students (teaching, mentoring, or youth programs)
• Demonstrated background in theater arts (performance, directing, or instruction)
• Strong classroom management and interpersonal skills
• Ability to engage diverse learners in an inclusive environment
• Experience in summer enrichment or college access programs
• Experience working with first-generation, underrepresented, or underserved student populations
• Ability to incorporate culturally relevant and engaging content

Responsibilities

• Responsible for directing and monitoring the work of student and/or temporary workers.
