The Math Specialist will effectively assess and diagnose student mathematical needs, design and deliver intentional intervention through small groups, monitor student achievement, and work towards meeting proficiency.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • At least 3 years of prior K-8 math teaching experience
  • Knowledge of math intervention techniques and literacy development
  • Strong analytical abilities and a love for data-driven instruction

  • High standards for both yourself and your students
  • Ability to provide a Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check Clearance (Act 34)
  • Ability to provide a Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151)
  • Ability to provide a Federal Bureau of Investigation Record Check Clearance (Act 114)
  • Ability to provide a Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Clearance (Act 168) before starting work on campus
  • Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls, and answer emails
  • Participate in appropriate professional activities
  • Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs, and student organizations as directed
  • Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds and a variety of individualized needs

Nice To Haves

  • MS Math & Special Education certification preferred but not mandatory
  • Previous experience working with children preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides push-in support during math instruction through small group instruction
  • Provides pull-out intervention as needed
  • Works collaboratively with the classroom teachers and building staff to support meeting proficiency on standards and to coordinate the need for support/intervention
  • Progress monitors students in math intervention
  • Analyzes student data
  • Administer student assessments and utilize data to identify areas for growth
  • Collaborate with grade-level teachers and administration to establish growth plans for students
  • Create lesson plans and activities to enhance student learning in areas of need
  • Provide individual and small group remediation to struggling students
  • Track and monitor individual student growth or drops in performance
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
