About The Position

Middle School English & Geography Teacher and Advisor Fort Worth Country Day is seeking an enthusiastic, student-centered educator who loves teaching middle school students and is eager to join a vibrant community. Reporting to the Head of Middle School, this dynamic, highly qualified, and approachable teacher will serve as both a member of the English or History departments and an advisor, beginning in August 2026. Our ideal candidate builds strong relationships with students and designs engaging, collaborative lessons that invite learners to construct knowledge together. They also have classroom management skills which emphasize mutual respect and positive reinforcement. We value educators who bring a balanced pedagogical toolkit grounded in research-supported methods while remaining open to exploring new approaches. Fort Worth Country Day is a co-ed, junior kindergarten through grade 12 college-preparatory day school with approximately 1,100 students and 250 faculty and staff. Requirements

  • A minimum of an undergraduate degree in a related field
  • 3-5 years of classroom teaching experience is preferred
  • Demonstrate joy and enthusiasm in working with middle school students
  • Love their subject area
  • Have experience teaching writing to middle school students
  • Show a strong commitment to ongoing professional growth and learning
  • Be flexible, collaborative, and eager to join a community that values continual growth
  • Bring positivity, optimism, and a healthy sense of perspective to their work
  • Represent the School in a professional and positive manner
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with students, families, and colleagues
  • The ideal candidate should possess a thoughtful approach and knowledge of intercultural communication and inclusion of underrepresented groups.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous work experience in grades 5-8 in a college preparatory independent school environment is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Teach four classes, two English and two Geography classes
  • Serve as an advisor for twelve to fourteen sixth grade students
  • Clearly communicate classroom expectations and grade student work in a timely manner using growth-mindset feedback
  • Develop strong partnerships with families
  • Embody, model and communicate the School’s mission and core values (respect, responsibility, kindness, courage, integrity and scholarship)
