About The Position

Edmonds School District Assistant Principals work with the building administrative team to supervise, direct, and evaluate assigned staff; utilize the evaluation process to promote professional growth and staff development; provide educational leadership and develop, implement, and assess an effective learning program to continuously improve student performance. Assistant Principals create a positive learning environment sensitive to diverse socioeconomic and ethnic groups; promote shared decision making and teamwork; assist with the planning and supervision of activities during the school day, at night, and on weekends; supervise curriculum planning and professional development programs in the building; supervise student conduct and oversee building disciplinary procedures; implement school and District attendance policies; assist with the implementation of Federal, State and local educational reform efforts; participate in District-level decision-making and articulation activities. Alderwood Middle School is home of the Mustangs. It is a middle school serving 669 students in grades 7-8 in Lynnwood, Washington. The school strives to support their students to receive the support and guidance needed to grow socially, emotionally, and academically so that they can achieve their full potential. This position begins the 2026-27 school year. Start date is July 1, 2026.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree
  • Valid Washington State Principal's Credential for the secondary level or ability to obtain prior to start date
  • Previous school administration and/or teaching experience at the secondary level
  • Knowledge and understanding of the use of an instructional framework to guide instructional practices, including experience with Teacher/Principal Evaluation Program (TPEP)
