The Gibbs Middle School is looking for a dynamic educator to join the team as an Assistant Principal.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Educational Administration/Leadership or equivalent.
  • Valid Massachusetts License for Principal/Assistant Principal at the Middle School Level.
  • Five years of educational experience, with three years of successful Middle School experience.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in planning, scheduling and organizing projects.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in oral and written language in interpersonal and large group settings and in all writing for internal and external audiences.

Responsibilities

  • To facilitate all faculty projects involving curriculum improvement and professional development.
  • To effectively resolve day-to-day school community issues involving students, teachers, staff and parents.
  • To carry forward the District and Building Goals.
  • To assist with the supervision of student conduct within the school, and oversee fair and consistent implementation of discipline code, keep records of all disciplinary actions.
  • To supervise and evaluate teachers at the direction of the principal.
  • To consistently demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • To participate, in conjunction with faculty, department heads, assistant principal and principal, in the development of the school budget.
  • To oversee and coordinate the implementation of programs for special education students and students on 504’s, including participation in relevant IEP and student support meetings.
  • To support the scheduling process, including, but not limited to, making schedule changes, entering data into Power School.
  • To perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
