About The Position

The Middle Office Fuel Accounting Professional plays a critical role in supporting trading operations by ensuring accurate trade capture, risk monitoring, and compliance with internal controls. This position serves as a key liaison between Front Office, Back Office, Legal, and IT teams, driving operational excellence and mitigating risk across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Apply a data-driven, analytical approach to review trade activity, identify issues, and resolve problems in real time.
  • Contribute to cross-functional initiatives involving Front Office, Back Office, Legal, and IT teams to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Maintain and update policies and procedures governing Middle Office functions on a periodic basis.
  • Coordinate and execute monthly, quarterly, and annual testing requirements for Internal and External Audit.
  • Manage and maintain databases for market price curves and holiday calendars to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare and validate the weekly Mark-to-Market (MTM) report; ensure accuracy and distribute to Front Office stakeholders.
  • Perform daily P&L attribution checks to validate changes and ensure accuracy prior to MTM report distribution.
  • Monitor risk limit thresholds, investigate potential breaches, and escalate findings to the Compliance Officer as required.
  • Administer term contract documentation and schedules; track actual liftings against commitments to ensure compliance.
  • Verify deal confirmations for physical clean products and financial instruments; audit trader entries for accuracy.
  • Prepare and issue confirmations for all executed bulk sale deals; ensure counterparties have current general terms and conditions.
  • Communicate professionally with approximately 60 counterparties to request or deliver documentation promptly.
  • Ensure receipt of confirmations within two business days of bulk sale execution; follow up with counterparties and traders for discrepancies or system updates.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of linear and non-linear energy derivatives (futures, options, swaps) and associated trading strategies.
  • Crosstrain on inventory valuation and reconciliation processes to strengthen business continuity and team resilience.
