About The Position

The Middle Grades Technology Specialist is responsible for the planning, coordinating, staff development training, and integration of technology instruction and technology use for the middle school instructional program. The employee is responsible for keeping abreast of changing technology, and labor market trends to ensure that students are receiving the information necessary to prepare them for successful entry into a career, higher education, or the military. This position will also require the ability to develop and nurture partnerships with schools, businesses, and our community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, Master's degree preferred, in technology education or related field, valid teacher's license, and must be an Apple Teacher Certified
  • Use a variety of skills to complete their duties effectively, which can include: Leadership skills Adaptability Self-motivation Organizational skills Close attention to detail and the ability to plan ahead Ability to work under pressure Ability to work independently and within a team Exceptional project management and execution skills Administrative and clerical skills Interpersonal skills, including excellent written and verbal communication Expertise in MacOS, iOS software, Mac, and iPad functionality Effective verbal and written communication skills Knowledge of sound teaching strategies Ability to effectively train faculty in technology use Ability to effectively communicate with faculty regarding technology use in both oral and written form

Responsibilities

  • Manage, coordinate and oversee the Technology Integration at Lake Taylor School
  • Monitor and approve program expenditures
  • Prepare financial statements and maintain records pertaining to program activities
  • Purchase or approve the purchase of equipment and supplies needed by the staff and program
  • Supervise the program's initiatives
  • Assist and support faculty in developing a 1:1 learning environment in classrooms
  • Act as a central participant in the school's ongoing 1:1 planning, including chairing the 1:1 planning, including chairing the Apple Ambassadors program
  • Schedule program work, oversee daily operations, coordinate the activities of the program and set priorities for managing the program
  • Provides professional development for teachers related to science, technology, engineering, math, and reading instruction that has a strong alignment with real world learning leading to student's participation in industry credentials.
  • Manages outreach to the community
  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of grant requests and funding continuation from outside sponsors
  • Provide instructional technology guidance and expertise for grades 6-8 faculty, leveraging various education technology hardware and software tools
  • In coordination with school policies and procedures, promote continued development and implementation of the digital citizenship programs and current technology standards.
