About The Position

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking an enthusiastic and highly qualified individual to fill the Mid Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) position. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse and high-performing team dedicated to mission success. The Mid Model-Based Systems Engineer will support Navy C4I programs by developing and maintaining digital system models used to design, simulate, and analyze complex systems, including submarines, weapons, and sensor platforms. Leveraging tools such as Cameo, the engineer will establish and maintain a “single source of truth” to integrate system requirements, validate performance, and accelerate acquisition timelines. This role enables more agile and informed decision-making by preserving design flexibility while ensuring system performance throughout the development life cycle.

Requirements

  • Active Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
  • 10+ years of experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Experience supporting acquisition programs, project management, and engineering teams
  • Proficiency in SysML, UML, UAF, and other digital modeling languages and frameworks
  • Familiarity with the DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF)
  • Experience working within Digital Engineering ecosystems and managing model repositories
  • Proficiency with MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler (MagicDraw), IBM Rhapsody, or Enterprise Architect
  • Experience with database and collaboration tools (e.g., SharePoint).
  • Knowledge of Defense Acquisition System processes, including JCIDS.
  • Experience supporting research and development (R&D) efforts
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools (Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Understanding of OPSEC requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Master’s degree in in engineering, operations research, or other sciences where the utilization of advanced math skills is required (e.g. business, mathematics, statistics, and probability)
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain authoritative SysML modelsys (e.g., using Cameo Systems Modeler) for Navy weapon systems, combat systems, and shipbuilding programs
  • Define, decompose, and trace system, functional, and interface requirements (ICDs) within a digital engineering environment
  • Apply DoDAF and UAF frameworks to support enterprise architecture development and MBSE initiatives
  • Utilize model-driven approaches to support verification planning, requirement traceability, and development of testable system artifacts
  • Interface with Navy customers, Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), and System Engineering Technical Reviews (SETRs) to deliver technical documentation, reports, and briefings on system performance and risks
  • Conduct modeling, simulation, and analysis to validate system designs, including shipboard power systems and mission package performance
