The Mid-Atlantic Division is looking for a Micro-Market Sales Manager who develops, implements and oversees merchandising and marketing differentiation to ensure our programs and strategies effectively capture the needs of our diverse market The Sales Manager ensures the achievement of category performance with a focus on the Division's top-line revenue through execution of micro-planning programs, detailed vendor collaboration. Micro-Market Clusters include, but are not limited to, Ethnic and Multicultural, Premium/Super-Premium, Value, Resort/Shore, College, etc. The Sales Manager will assist Merchandising & Marketing Coordinators and Operations Specialists in developing promotional plans and goals with local execution, local marketing, and micro merchandising strategies to drive incremental performance. Sales Managers will ensure these operations are consistent with established Company policies and objectives.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5-10+ years of experience in retail, category management, or marketing; grocery industry experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of merchandising and general product knowledge.
  • Familiarity with category management, merchandising techniques, and market research.
  • Excellent communication skills-both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical and organizational abilities with proven leadership experience.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; solid computer skills.
  • A results-driven mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and adaptability.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Works in coordination with all departments to ensure Micro-Market strategies are incorporated appropriately across total store.
  • Develop and maintain micro-market programs, assortments, layouts, and pricing/promo strategies, including Center Store and Fresh product adjacencies.
  • Manage Division-specific Plan-O-Grams and ensure display merchandising reflects store micro-market needs, differentiating from division base plans where appropriate.
  • Develop and execute cross-merchandising and ethnic event plans in coordination with Marketing and Operations teams, ensuring effective communication and store team education.
  • Collaborate with operations to manage feedback loops and adapt merchandising strategies to market conditions.
  • Manages Supplier relationships for key Ethnic, Premium, Micro-Market and Local programs and assortments.
  • Develop promotional plans and goals with the Merchandising & Marketing Coordinator and Operations Specialists to drive incremental performance.
  • Ensure appropriate and competitive pricing is in place, monitor competitive pricing including specialty stores and markets not available in current reporting.
  • Manages calendar for development and execution of needed micro-market executions, for example Shore Store seasonal planning.
  • Works in coordination with Senior Vice President Merchandising & Marketing to develop financial and customer growth goals and responsible for regular reporting against stated goals.
  • Lead local merchandising and marketing programs, acting as a key strategist and overseeing execution for specific commodities.
  • Sets vendor strategies and category margin targets.
  • Visits stores and competition frequently.
  • Maintains supply standards for merchandising & marketing plans.
