About The Position

The Intermediate Level Repair & Assembly Technician will learn to and contribute in performing a wide variety of functions, processes, repairs and finishing to aerospace and marine gas turbine engine components. Standards are in conformance to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications and company guidelines. Tasks may include hand blending, power grinding, drilling, taping, reaming, riveting, lock-wiring, assembly, disassembly, light machining, and the use of measuring devices. Through our extensive in-house training program, the successful applicant will be instructed via a series of computer based and hands-on training, the necessary skills of the position. The position performs its primary functions in a climate-controlled and modern state-of-the-art facility.

Requirements

  • Experience in another industry, that may have similar types of skills requirements, such as automobile mechanic, body work, sheet metal fabrication or woodworking.
  • Experience in the use of general hand tools and power tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform basic shop math, including working with decimals and fractions.
  • Some experience and understanding of the use of measuring gauges such as calipers and micrometers.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or Technical High School diploma or the equivalent in a trade school.
  • General knowledge of standard shop practices and procedures.
  • Ability to be self-directed and motivated.
  • Ability to speak, read and write English.

Responsibilities

  • Follow written and verbal instructions accurately including sketches, drawings, engineered work instructions and original equipment manufacturer's instructions. (OEM).
  • Use a variety of hand-held power and non-power tools to perform various operations.
  • Blend various metals, weld, plating, and spray coatings.
  • Blend and remove nicks and high metal to create smooth transitions or return parts to original contour.
  • Disassembly and assembly of engine components. Assembly and installation methods include assembly of components/parts to main frames, press-fit bushings, inserts, rivets, self-locking nuts, and lock wiring.
  • Drill, tap, re-drill holes. Use hand drills, reamers, chamfer tools, and taps. Operate small machines such as drill press, and lathes to perform various repairs.
  • Ability to use measuring devices to determine specific dimensions.
  • Inspect work for completion and quality to company, customer and manufacturer standards.
  • Participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement efforts. Position requires communication with engineers, supervisors, and other employees to improve results.
