About The Position

The Merchandising Manager serves our internal and external customers by developing and implementing training, development and scheduling of our Merchandisers to maximize customer service by ensuring that standards are executed in the marketplace. Provide coverage for Sales Training and Logistics Managers, Sales Operations Manager and Sr. Market Sales Managers during absences from work (e.g. vacation, personal days) so the company can meet sales and profitability goals.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent degree required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business preferred.
  • 2+ years of beverage industry sales experience combined with grocery and/or small format experience and 2+ years previous supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; previous VIP experience required.
  • Valid Driver's License; employee must be insurable to operate a vehicle as a condition of initial and continued employment.
  • Knowledge of: retail sales environment; large and small format customers; beverage industry; distribution system; various CE applications; Microsoft Office Suite; VIP; standard selling practices.
  • Skill in: internal and external customer service; training and coaching.

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of budget, labor hours and company assets through effective and efficient scheduling (e.g. full/part time, non-traditional schedules, gig labor) while maximizing customer service
  • Weekly communication of schedules to employees and contingency planning when needed
  • Managing non-traditional work group which may include nights, weekends, part-time and gig labor to maximize efficiencies of budgeted labor
  • Flexing available resources to support the needs of the business with a strong dotted line to the Sales Support Supervisor and applicable labor
  • General management of new employees to ensure they are performing job duties in accordance with company standards. Responsibilities include interviewing, on-boarding, training and development
  • Collaborate with CLD on new employee onboarding, training and playbooks. Provide recommendation on changes and updates to serve business needs
  • Heavy emphasis on employee engagement and retention initiatives by conducting regular check ins, establish cohort groups and networking opportunities with tenured employees to provide resources necessary to be successful
  • Identify and leverage relationships in key accounts to create training atmosphere for new employees to develop speed, skills and efficiency before moving on to more autonomous work environments
  • Works with customers and G&J Pepsi Management team to resolve problems and issues that occur in the marketplace.
  • Cross train in all areas of Sales (i.e. Sales Operations Manager, Sales Training and Logistics Manager and Sr. Market Sales Manager) to provide coverage for these employees when they are absent from work.
  • Collaborates with Sales Support in store resets in market and communicates store resets to Sales Team; stocks, rotates and displays all products to established standards (e.g. coolers, vendors, shelf and displays)
  • Completes labor reports, service history and issues reports, marketplace standards reports, corrective action notices and other paperwork according to established company policy; reviews and approves time off requests and time cards.
  • Ensures that company policies, standards and procedures are met, followed and maintained in accordance with established company policy (e.g. OSHA and safety compliance, Federal/State/Local laws).
  • Communicates with co-workers, employees and customers verbally and in writing regarding policy and procedure changes, departmental activities, operational feedback and other information.
  • Maintains confidentiality of financial information, promotions, pricing, CMA contracts, customer information and employee information (e.g. discipline, wage information) and other sensitive and confidential information.
  • Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works outside of normal schedule as required to meet workload demands. Performs other related duties as required.
