As a Merchandise Buyer I, you'll play a crucial role in managing merchandise assortment for one or more small products categories such as upholstery, case goods, rugs, accessories and more. Unique Culture Employee Discount What we trust you to do: In conjunction with Senior Buyer, selects merchandise for assigned product categories. Utilizes planning and forecasting software to order merchandise and maintain optimal inventory levels. Analyzes cost and retail to maintain gross margins for maximum profitability and GMROI. Determines stock pricing, FFO pricing and markdown pricing. Collaborates with Merchandising team to coordinate planning and execution of merchandise placement on showroom floor, and completes appropriate paperwork to transfer merchandise from warehouse to showroom floor. Manages vendor business portfolios, including price negotiation and procedures. Accompanies VP of Merchandising on showroom visits and recommends vendors. Works with vendor reps, Logistics team and vendor personnel to resolve issues such as delays style change, damages, etc. Inspects new sample merchandise, ensuring all measurement, specification, and features are accurate. Coordinates the return of damaged goods and replacement items; negotiates credit arrangements with vendors. Communicates product/vendor changes such as shipping schedules, product style & construction changes, and/or arrival of new products with appropriate company personnel. Creates, enters and maintains item data, is responsible for accuracy of all details of product. Works with Merchandise Assistants to properly create showroom price tags and is responsible for the accuracy of all data. Maintains optimal turn rates by using exit strategies such as removing slower moving and discontinued items increasing the ability to store more high-volume goods. Assists warehouse personnel in identifying mis-shipped product Any other function or responsibility as assigned by Supervisor. Who you are: 3-5 years of related experience in the furniture industry Expert knowledge of assigned merchandise category Strong computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Ability to work collaboratively with all areas of the company Strong oral and Written communication skills Must be able to read and communicate effectively in English Must travel to all store locations on a frequent basis.
