About The Position

Assist the Merchandise Manager in developing buying programs for the Golf Shop, maintaining inventory and coordinating product receiving and pricing. The Assistant Merchandise Manager will supervise restocking and fixture rotation in the Golf Shop and Tennis Shop and will work closely with the Head Golf Professional, Assistant Golf Professionals, and Counter Support Associates regarding all merchandise. The assistant merchandise manager will assist for both hard and soft goods. Essential Responsibilities: Provide input on the evaluation of vendor performance. Coordinate display of merchandise sold in the Golf Shop Work with the Professional Staff to take advantage of promotional programs, specials, closeouts, to increase profit margins and inventory turn. Communicate product knowledge from vendors and manufacturers to Counter Support Associates and Professional Staff in order to assure that product knowledge is current. Assist the Merchandise Manager with buying of hard goods according to industry trends, product mix requirements and prescribed buying plan. Attend online Trackman University to be able to custom fit members/guests utilizing trackman launch monitor. Stay current with all major hard good vendors educational offerings to assist members in selecting the right clubs or golf ball. Maintain a log of all special orders Attend Merchandise Shows with Merchandise Manager as needed. Assist the Merchandise Manager with monthly inventory control. Develop and promote daily sales floor promotional activity by maintaining merchandise displays, ensuring shop cleanliness and provide superior customer service to stimulate sales. Answer the phone and assist with counter duties in the Golf Shop as needed. Assist in designing and customizing display work.   • Assistant Merchandise Manager/Buyer should have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • The Assistant Merchandise Manager/Buyer should also have the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Assistant Merchandise Manager/Buyer should have the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • The Assistant Merchandise Manager/Buyer should also have the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Assistant Merchandise Manager/Buyer should have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
