About The Position

Paradise Valley Hospital, a member of Prime Healthcare, is seeking a Mental Health Worker (MHW) to join its award-winning team. Paradise Valley Hospital is a 291-bed acute care hospital, the oldest in the South Bay and second oldest in San Diego County, and the largest employer in National City. For over 100 years, it has provided numerous programs and services, including comprehensive behavioral health services on its hospital campus and Bayview campus in Chula Vista. These services encompass a psychiatric continuum of care for adult patients, inpatient services, and intensive outpatient services. The MHW role is integral to providing patient care within these behavioral health settings.

Requirements

  • Must have current and valid license as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) issued by the State.
  • BLS certification within 30 days of hire and maintain current.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one year experience working as Mental Health Worker in a hospital setting (if not a CNA).
  • One (1) year prior mental health experience.
  • Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the licensed nursing staff (RN, LVN or Charge RN) in providing and documenting patient care, including assistance with activities of daily living (Inpatient).
  • Support unit functions and maintain a safe and clean environment for patients, visitors, and co-workers (Inpatient).
  • Function as an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team and communicate pertinent patient information to the supervising RN (Inpatient).
  • Perform some clerical duties as assigned and provide basic nursing care for adult and geriatric patients (Inpatient).
  • Perform responsibilities within the guidelines of the Nursing Structure Standards, Hospital/Nursing Policy, and state regulatory and accrediting requirements (Inpatient).
  • Carry out activities of daily living programs and individual treatment plans for psychiatric patients under the direction and supervision of the Director of Nursing, RN, and Program Director (Outpatient).
