About The Position
Paradise Valley Hospital, a member of Prime Healthcare, is seeking a Mental Health Worker (MHW) to join its award-winning team. The hospital, located in National City, is the South Bay’s oldest and the second oldest in San Diego County, serving the community for over 100 years. It is a 291-bed acute care hospital offering various programs and services, including the San Diego Spine & Joint Center, an acute rehabilitation center, the Paradise Health & Senior Center, a cardiac catheterization lab, and comprehensive surgical and emergency services. Additionally, Paradise Valley Hospital provides comprehensive behavioral health services on its main campus and Bayview campus in Chula Vista, encompassing psychiatric continuum of care for adult patients, inpatient services, and intensive outpatient services.
Requirements
- Must have current and valid license as a Certified Nursing Assistant issued by the State, if a CNA.
- BLS within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
Nice To Haves
- If not a CNA, a minimum of one year experience working as Mental Health Worker in a hospital setting preferred.
- One (1) year prior mental health experience preferred.
- Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist the licensed nursing staff (RN, LVN, or Charge RN) in providing and documenting patient care, including assistance with activities of daily living for inpatient settings.
- Support unit functions and maintain a safe and clean environment for patients, visitors, and co-workers in inpatient settings.
- Function as an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team and communicate pertinent patient information to the supervising RN in inpatient settings.
- Perform some clerical duties as assigned and provide basic nursing care for adult and geriatric patients in inpatient settings.
- Perform responsibilities within the guidelines of the Nursing Structure Standards, Hospital/Nursing Policy, and state regulatory and accrediting requirements in inpatient settings.
- Carry out activities of daily living programs and individual treatment plans for psychiatric patients under the direction and supervision of the Director of Nursing, RN, and the Program Director in outpatient settings.
