About The Position

At Dungarvin, we are a mission-driven team providing person-centered support services since 1976. We assist individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities or other complex medical needs to live as independently as possible. This role involves working directly with individuals, making a real difference one person at a time. You will provide hands-on care, assist with daily activities like personal care, meal prep, transportation, housekeeping, and laundry, all while fostering independence. You will also support mental health and behavioral management, helping individuals overcome challenges with compassionate, person-centered care. Maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment is key, as is mentoring and guiding individuals to achieve their personal goals through supervision and positive reinforcement.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience working with individuals who have challenging behaviors, such as physical or verbal aggression, property destruction, or self-injury.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Physical stamina to stay on your feet, walk, stand, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Basic computer skills for tracking progress and documentation.
  • Good communication is key in this role. You’ll rely on your reading, writing, and communication skills to document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with both internal and external team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with mental health conditions (e.g., bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression, anxiety) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor & Guide : Provide supervision, positive reinforcement, and guidance to help individuals achieve their aspirations.
