About The Position

POSITION: Mental Health Professional (Bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish required) School Psychologist or School Social Worker LOCATION: 7725 Conifer Road, Denver, CO 80221 - Adventure Elementary Dual Language Program SCHOOL DESIGN OVERVIEW: Adventure Elementary is a dual language enrichment school where students are exposed to rigorous academics, learn to think critically, and demonstrate real-world understanding. Learning experiences and service-learning projects actively engage Adventure students in their education. What makes Adventure unique is that we offer all students the opportunity to become proficient in English and Spanish. All students participate in Crew meetings every morning. Crew is a sacred part of the day in which students and teachers build community within their rooms so that every child feels important and connected to a trusted adult and each other. Requirements

Must hold a Special Services Provider license from the Colorado Department of Education with a School Psychologist or School Social Worker endorsement.
Bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish required. (Must be able to read, write, and speak in both languages fluently)
English Learner Professional Development Designation required; (or willingness to pursue required coursework.

Nice To Haves

Additional endorsement in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education preferred, or willingness to pursue endorsement or equivalent coursework.
Background in bilingual education and/or language acquisition preferred.

Responsibilities

Identifies and addresses the diverse needs of learners in order to provide expanded opportunities and support for learner success.
Establishes and maintains a strong collaborative and consultative working relationship with staff and parents.
Exhibits commitments and competencies ensuring an integrated delivery model of service, including the demonstration of skills in developing and delivering counseling services.
Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to the IEP process and a standards-based system of designing and delivering services and assessments.
Demonstrates and models' high expectations for all students to succeed.
Understands that Special Education paperwork is an essential part of the position; organizes and completes paperwork on time and documents important events and contacts.
Demonstrates effective time management, including completion of assessments, evaluations, and special education paperwork.
Attends and/or facilitates student centered/parent friendly IEP meetings.
Works collaboratively with administration, school, and District staff.
Provides professional staff development as needed.
Provides direct services to students and communicates effectively with parents.
Supports behavior interventions for students and provides staff with effective strategies and interventions as needed.
Understands and complies with all state and federal rules and regulations.
Must be flexible and or adaptable to changing needs of schools, students, and meeting schedules.
