About The Position

Adventure Elementary has received grant dollars to provide extended learning opportunities to students beginning school year 2024-25 for three years, with possible extension for a total of five years. Adventure's Extended Learning Program will take place from 3:10-6 p.m., four days per week (Monday-Thursday). Additionally, there will be a three-week program in June. Extended learning opportunities will provide dual language students with experiential learning opportunities and experiences to enrich and enhance their: second language, background knowledge, vocabulary, application of academic skills to broader contexts; and social-emotional skills and development. Parents will also be invited to attend a variety of activities alongside their children.

Requirements

  • Current Colorado teaching license required.
  • Must have completed the English Learner Professional Development hours reported on the teaching license OR possess the endorsement in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education
  • At least three years' experience working with children.
  • Bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish required.
  • Bachelor's degree in education, Special Education, Human Growth & Development, Social Work, Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, or other related field.

  • Encourage students to work on building their courage through adventure across physical, academic, and artistic experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the School Director to identify and coordinate extended learning opportunities for dual language learners (3 sessions per school year plus a summer school sessions).
  • Develop marketing, recruiting, and communication tools in English and Spanish for parents and school staff regarding the extended learning program.
  • Establish procedures and materials for pre-registration and registration of students and parents.
  • Secure and/or order necessary supplies and materials.
  • Attend any required and necessary professional development and/or training.
  • Assist the School Director with managing budgets associated with Partner Organizations.
  • Communicate with School Director, Certified Staff, and Partner Organizations to coordinate facilities, equipment, software, supplies/materials, and student plans (including IEP, 504, Health Care).
  • Be available to certified teachers and Partner Organization instructors to respond to student, staff and parent needs.
  • Supervise the Extended Learning Program; be on site at Adventure during Extended Learning afternoon hours (four, three-hour days per week, from 3 p.m. until 5:45-6 pm or until the last student has been accounted for).
  • Ensure administration and reporting of necessary assessment and/or data tracking tools.
  • Serve as liaison from school administration regarding effectiveness, engagement, and organization of activities and opportunities being provided by Partner Organizations.
  • Follow all district policies and procedures.
